From the source of discussion I have read from Low Yatt .com some of the main resons for crime is as listed in the following bullet points.
- Global Recession
One of the forum contributer stated that one of the causes of why crime rates are in the rise is due to the current global recession, which contributed to the rise on unemployments. Quoted from the contributor "Though our PM & advisers lied through their teeth that Malaysia will not enter a recession, it happened anyway. By the way the same ministers and advisers said the number of jobless people is small, just 30,000. I think the real figure is 60,000 so there you have it. The reason why crime is up.
- Income & Renumeration for Police is Low Compared to Other Countries
Causing polices to commit crime to take bribes or caused them to be less motivated in taking initiatives to prevent crimes.
- Media Influence
Some blame it on the movies that is giving ideas to the culprits on how to commit crime.
- Rape Crimes Caused by Lack of Sex Education (in the High-Schooling Periods)
- Punishment for Rape Cases is not Severe Enough
One of the contributers mentioned that Malaysia is too lenient to rape criminals, directly quoting the contributor "No China/Yemeni-style execution for pedo/rape cases".
- Salary and Wages in Malaysia for Employees is not Up to Market Standard
Our salary is not wat its suppose to bean average malaysian wif degree certificate shud get roughly around RM3500 per month as basic, and those with no degree or diploma could possibly get RM1.5-1.8k per month, this is what leads to crimes.
Malaysia want us to buy original stuffs , they want us to spend more on products , they want us to avoid bribes but not willing to help with anything. With the low income and wages we cannot help Malaysia stimulate the economy our buying power is too low and but government is turning a deft ear on this issue.
- Malaysia Citizens are too lazy to Report Police for Crime Incidents
One of the main reason, why criminals are becoming braver is that we are too lazy to report to police, so police would think that there are few crime to focus. If there is active report on crimes in one area, then at least police would know the location of the active crime.
- Too Many Illegal Immigrants in the Country
